Nostr is the super app. Because it’s actually an ecosystem of apps, all of which make each other better. People haven’t grasped that yet. They will when it’s more accessible and onboarding is more straightforward and intuitive.

When historians look back and analyze Elon's illustrious career, it will be marked by 2 failures: 1) Failure to fully embrace #Bitcoin  at his companies after an initial start. 2) Failure to integrate Nostr/LN to Twitter for sake of chasing a WeChat "super app" architecture.

My fear was that nostr would require being a network engineer to use as been my experience with other open source projects. Thankfully that's not the case. Devs have gotten the message of the importance of ease of use. I find nostr as easy to use as twitter.

Yes. But we used to be GAAP profitable. Only way we got into S&P500
One of the things that make Twitter attractive for me is the fact that my feed contains tweets from people I don't follow (and I don't want to follow), but which very well match my interests. It would be great if Nostr has that feature too.

Eventually. Try primal.net
I'm using Nostrid and it has a global feed. It wouldn't be to difficult to build a filtering system on the application level to mimic that behaviour. So not as refined as twitter but it's not far away from it.
Not really Apple can only ban its user from nostr And they can ban Apple froml their lives (As a former Apple user now typing this on Graphene OS)
They don’t have to ban them; they have to make it harder to setup or have less API permissions. I know it’s counter their trend, but we should be clear that it’s not completely bulletproof 😅

Still feels a lot strange and technical to me. I’m not really a tech person although the field fascinates me.

What's the best resource to learn about Nostr and everything it can do?

I think in a broader context you are still right though, google throttling anonymous accounts is inhibiting aurora store, and now using a VPN breaks it entirely. We need a trustable place for mirroring apks that can integrate with fdroid or obtanium, I think, as well as a volunteer army of people willing to keep it close to the google play store.

He is unable to do that bc a cloned mind is owned by someone else.
Is there a good directory of the apps? I’ve yet to see a decent one. Further, there is a big lack of quality desktop support. I do not use mobile and you can tell few have given much thought to web UI/UX.

Okay. I’m on Damus (on my iPad) and just have the first two buttons.. :-/
I have something from the fediverse to add to @jack 's post here: View quoted note → This positive attitude about building stuff is really great to see on Nostr and it does not exist on the fediverse at all. Since most ActivityPub implementations are heavy it's unreasonable to expect most users to self host. So people tend to gather into communities based on their chosen instance (think: website they are actually using). The different AP implementations really only work together in spite of each other, and there's endless drama about what your chosen AP software says about you, be you a contributor, administrator, or just a user. For example, here's some hilarious beef I saw today between Mastodon instances. The instance mastodon.art is notorious for blocking an absurd number of instances, to the point where artists looking to get commissioned work should really not post there. They wrote this blog post about how they are defederating from another growing instance because they implemented text based search (for public posts) and a few other less important complaints: You heard that right. This is about the indexing of publicly available posts. As though it's some kind of terrible harassment tool. Remember that ActivityPub supports followers-only posts and follow approvals. Consider also this instance is for artists, who WANT to be found. That's just drama between Mastodon instances. When it comes to the other implementations it gets even more insufferable. ActivityPub is a protocol like Nostr, but people building on Nostr actually like each other. Celebrate that.
Not for long. People just need a great onboarding solution and a couple more niche micro celebrities to join
It’s true, so many ppl on fedi are completely deranged and the censorship may be even worse than Twitter. Fedi also fails at decentralisation given how concentrated users are on the large instances.
Isn't Apple required to open the possibility to sideload apps? Also, there already is a way to circumnavigate iOS tyranny: Android.
Definitely a great app. Just as people cannot understand freedom, they may understand this place later. or some may not understand at all. Or those who don't like freedom may not like this place either :)))
Try plebstr. It's way cooler and user friendly than damus or any other app built on nostr so far. It has better UI and is easily navigatable. You'll thank me later. PS: it's available on Android and i think IOS too

This, and the fact the ux is built by engineers for engineers.
so much for him being willing to lose money to 'preserve freespeech' contrast @jack 's much smaller but still great investments in nostr doing far more, if elon threw just 1 billion at nostr it would be dominating all social, elon or not nostr is still going to win

There is a lot of work to do here At least the gui is terrible:)
its always "app store or google play" never "build from source" or "download .apk"
