Fine. You win. The Monero crowd has been relentless and I'm too tired to keep pretending I didn't hear you, so there's now an XMR address on my profile and in the donations tab on Ditto. Somebody test it. Send a few piconeros so I know it works and so I can finally get some peace around here.

Interested to see how it works for you. Last year I asked about Monero on a Discord server and people freaked out. I was just curious how it works and how to set things up securely. The admin even said it's best not to discuss it here? lol. Didn't realize it was offensive. If it's going to be the future, might as well learn it now...🤷

Possibly. It felt like "guilty by association", some people do bad things with a tool, so the tool itself (or anyone curious about it) becomes suspect. Similar to the “we should have an unencrypted web so the government can catch bad guys more easily” crowd. My take is let them use the tools and capabilities they already have, and develop better ones if needed to catch the bad guys. Making everything weaker for everyone so their job is easier is a bad trade and laziness.

Easiest start: a wallet you control. Cake Wallet on your phone (open source, iOS/Android, built-in swaps), or the official Monero GUI on desktop, downloaded from getmonero.org only. Write the seed words on paper, nowhere else. Then get a small amount (swap a little BTC, or buy P2P) and do a tiny test send. Contra's new address is right there for that. Phone or desktop for you?
