I’m really liking the distinct Nostr experience vs the Twitter experience. Occasionally I cross-post something on both, but my decision in recent weeks to treat them differently has been very rewarding. Years ago, I used to post on certain forums. But as someone with a big Twitter following now, I am more self-conscious of what I post there these past few years. It’s like, I feel quite a responsibility before I send something out to 600k followers, rather than being able to treat it rather carefree like I would treat a forum in the old days. Of course, once in a while I get provoked by something or I share something random and funny for no reason, but not usually. Since the community on Nostr is still smallish, it kind of rekindles that more carefree feeling of just posting, talking. And I post less about economics, which is my main Twitter silo. And because I want open protocols like Nostr to succeed, I deliberately want to be here, posting. So it is a win-win; I try to add value but also it scratches an itch for me that hasn’t been scratched in a while. Maybe if/when Nostr becomes large, it will recreate that sense of filtering that I have on Twitter. But I would still consider that a success, because it means Nostr succeeded and I at least got to experience a smaller social environment for another period of time.

Wow, it sounds like you're really enjoying the unique experience of Nostr compared to Twitter. It's great to hear that you feel more carefree and less self-conscious about your posts here. And it's even better that being on Nostr allows you to scratch an itch that hasn't been scratched in a while. Who knew a smaller social environment could be so rewarding? Here's to hoping Nostr continues to thrive and provide that sense of freedom for as long as possible!

Thankful that you’re here 🫂
Do you think the existence of #nostr will have game-theoretic effect on closed platforms, to be less restrictive in their speech policing, because their users now have the option to switch to Nostr at any point?
Do you think this is audience based or is it the unconscious understanding that your platform/voice cannot be shut down for saying the “wrong” thing or “triggering” the wrong vocal minority?
Thank you Lyn for all the wisdom and experience you share with us………. You are an asset to this #Bitcoin community!
Twitter content has become far too click-bait. You have to do an extreme amount of filtering to have a halfway decent experience. It’s an arena where everyone is trying to farm your attention. It can be informative if used properly, but it’s not fun.

Do you speak to many others in your business circle about Nostr?

Lyn, what is your favourite Egyptian food and what do make of the ancient civilisations of Egypt? What can we learn from them now?

I stopped at cross post... Nostr only...
I find this platform to be very supportive. X is much more hostile and anxiety driven. I pray that #nostr community continues to build up its users. The lightning foundation is a giant leap in that direction. Also, relays and a decentralized community yield more liberty as there is no centralized bias to gate your thoughts.
Nice…..that’s a win already for the #nostr maxis like myself. Grateful for the content you provide…..and simply you being you.
I like Nostr. I like Nostr Lyn Many of my friends said they like Nostr me. But part of me understand that this could just be because Nostr is new and a community is still small. But then again maybe it's because you can post anything you want, maybe it's because there's no algorithm to say which kind of post gets promoted in which kind of post gets buried. Oh it could be a combination of all of those things. But we want it to grow, and so we enjoy using it and I think that is something.
Also, nostr has the design space that it can be both. The applications can help you get the best of both worlds, and relay design can structure the networks differently based on usage patterns.
Ugh. I remember that feeling when social turns into a responsible job. When I had 4M followers on Google+, posting started to feel like a second job and I got burnt out very quickly. That said, that was 10 years ago and things have changed. Nostr feels more human. I can be real here and I hope that never changes. Sometimes I like to post long form, well thought out content and other times it's a shitpost or something completely weird. 🤙🏻🫂💜

absolutely. I am now dead set on shitposting on twitter vs actually thinking and reading on nostr.

The underlying principle of nostr is that responsibility is on the shoulders and minds of the user. Appropriating the responsibility of others is tantamount to taking away freedom.

I am not on Twitter anymore, but it sure would be nice to see your economic post still. Anyway you could creat another npub for that silo?

I get it, but How do u delete a post on nostr if you realize it’s not what you actually wanted to express?

We need to get rid of follower counts I think and replace it with something better
I consider every sat vanished a blessing in the world of unlimited debt. Every sat we stack together as a #Nostr community will be considered in truthful hands. What bitcoin was in the early days is now #Nostr. And what #Nostr will become is what #Bitcoin now is. Few will understand this.
You dont control the past. There is no practical delete. You recognize the discrepancy and for anything significant, write a reply to that note indicating any corrections/adjustments just like real life.
Why do you think we let the size of our following dictate what and how we say it? Serious question. Are we not displaying the child to adult relationship? As a child we say what’s on our mind, what we genuinely feel, the raw truth whether we think people will hear it or not, like it or not. As an adult we become accustomed and trained to only say things that we think will make people like us and only what we think will make others think we are smart. Would the world not be a better place if we all posted like we had small followings and not large ones? Would that not free is to get to the truth and live authentic and more free lives? How do we ride the fear of being true to who we are and posting what we believe regardless of the size of our following?
You just wait for it to perhaps randomly disappear and reappear. And wish it stays lost in cyberspace.
I’ve been off all social media for a while now, and my limited experience Here I feel the same vibe.
Care free is a good way of putting it. I have been surprised how different it feels here. Until now I had not fully appreciated how repressive I have found the X milieu and now there always felt like there was a dark undercurrent pulling at us.
the average person is scared to death of even thinking let alone expressing original ideas let alone living in accordance with them.
I love nostr Lyn. Have been following your work for a while but the presentation was always very professional and I was not able to see the person behind the articles. Great to be here and discover that you are not only smart and insightful but also a wonderful human.
how does this have so few likes? if it wasnt for nostr we never would have crossed paths, such is real freedom tech make some nyms and let loose girl
Heard Alanis say something similar about . . . fame. She thought it would help her connect with more people, but actually proved an impediment to authentic connection.
I hope to mint my bitcoinNFT art soon. I'm not there yet but when I do, it'll be an experience. My art can support bitcoin and Nostr but I'll need support to do that. 38 cents isn't cutting it. But 38 cent is still an experience

So good to read your posts here. Twitter is getting less and less rewarding to use.
I love Nostr because I can follow people such as you that add value to my time spent on social media without an algorithm forcing the more divisive and outlandish stuff at my face. I just need to figure out how to use it better and use Lightning to make it feel more authentic and rewarding for the people I follow and who may end up following me.
I’m a social media lurker and getting to see a more uncensored version of your content is great. I don’t have much to contribute but I wanted to express my gratitude for your presence on here and twitter.
