there are some easy signals in life to follow. really.
100% bots or followers of Lunduke π
I mean, it's a pretty shitty fork of arch, but it's not racist.
Have you tried it yet? I'm thinking of switching because popos is ass now
The Linux distro?
Wtf
I have tried it and I don't like it. I run Endeavor for Arch.
It comes pre-installed with a bunch of Google and other bullshit that I just don't use or need.
I've also learned after playing around with a bunch of keyboard first navigation things like hyperland and whatnot that I am just not a keyboard first kind of navigation person I need a mouse.
I'm also the kind of Linux dork who doesn't like having a bunch of pre-installed software on my distro. Usually I'll pick a kernel and then install a minimal version of the desktop environment and go from there, installing only what I actually need, not what somebody thinks I need.
2 days ago I heard this name for the first time and was wondering WTF is this. Now I'm wondering why they got so much support, they don't provide anything special compare to other distro.
That and everything else
They need to read this book!

I feel old, and also fully agree π
I still install base debian from net install, then minimal xfce, then a list of apps I've built over the years with a small script. I know everything installed, and it's light even on old machines.
I have one Fedora machine for gaming. I don't have a clue what's going on, I just click the Steam button π€£
TBF they think everything is racist, so this isn't entirely surprising :peepoLeave:
That's me with Bazzite. I use it purely for gaming. I haven't customized it. I just click the Steam button.
Debian is my daily driver and I know everything installed on that machine. My box that has arch on it I'm definitely less familiar with
Iβm surprised they donβt say oxygen is racist because straight white dudes breathe it.
WTF? Funnily enough, I'm actually migrating to omarchy now. Finally, an operating system with a tiling desktop manager that seems to just work and has a cheat sheet built in so I can actually learn.
It's an opinionated operating system and it's not Ubuntu. I think that's worth a look. Plus a tiling desktop manager built-in, plus an interactive searchable cheat sheet.
Perfect for beginners and people who don't want to spend a whole week learning new hotkeys and trying to build it into their muscle memories.
im using it now. and im too lazy to wipe it and just put straight arch + niriwm + danklinux but honestly? I would rather keep omarchy installed so i can take it to geek events and find my clan of outcasts
I thought people's concerns were about the corruption and where did all the money go?
Damn kids with their ricer Linux π

you sir are a cultural phenomenon
I feel so bald and with glasses. ππ
But you're the cook!
Maybe pasta al dente, not else.. πππ€πΌ
Okay, Iβll bite. They donβt like the founder? It doesnβt have enough DEI in the codebase? Please enlighten me, I donβt live in a world where everyone is permanently triggered and irate at the most minute details of everything imaginable.
heβs not a commie therefore they hate him
Sounds exhausting just to exist as one of those people.
I just knew at least one person would drop the word Nazi.
I almost wish you could send those people back in time to actually meet real Nazis.
The forced accessibility settings at the onboarding at first boot take 2hrs to complete
Pretty soon they will
any *nix can be a powerful footgun, making a computer predict what you want without the bandwidth to understand the implications of the changes made (a problem before LLM coding) makes for a really big foot! Maybe it's time to switch to OpenBSD or Alpine linux for desktop π¦Ά
i think bluesky causes brain damage π
Lmao your ableist mindset is not welcome here. Please disable yourself in at least one way and choose the appropriate accessibility feature before proceeding. Next page, please provide proof of vaccination before proceeding, next screen please provide your computer license, responsible internet access license, and referrals from at least three already registered users before proceeding.
I don't need a more highly valued recommendation than that. I'll have to try it out.
Probably got something to do with Hyprland by default. Those types hate anyone that doesnt go along with their play pretend bullshit, ask me how I know.
Ive been using arch +swaywm for years, might just have to make the switch and try it out.
Those pre installed shits are the reason I haven't tried it out. That and I have swaywm keys embedded into my prefrontal cortex at this point, changing to hyprland would mean learning something.
They can't see the vision
leave me out of this π
Tbf Omarchy does seem pretty cringe for somerhing that was funded 8 million dollars. But i guess a broken clock is right sometimes...
And on Mastodon itβs the same thing. People are so sensitive these days. Itβs only an OS, relax people.
Man, I keep an eye on Bluesky for the cringe. It's such a pathetic userbase.
Cope.

I've been on the fence about Omarchy but now i might spite run it.

I've been working with Claude to find all the cruft and replace it to make it mine.
I do appreciate some of the stuff, but some of it I don't. Like web app shortcuts (which prompted me to build it out for my own apps like proton mail but via Firefox) and they have a few "productivity" apps pre-installed which they made but I don't care to learn.
So I'm de-themming it, and then I'll try to package that somehow for us nostr users.
I like that it comes with mise preinstalled though.
