Thought of something today… People like to compare Bluesky and Nostr because they are built around a similar idea. But it’s claimed Bluesky has more users, a few million apparently. But Nostr supposedly only has 100k or so active users. Yet today I went searching for real world events and groups around each. What did I find? Couldn’t find a single event about Bluesky. Yet the first search found numerous conferences, meetups, and other gatherings for #Nostr I think this is actually a decent litmus for telling the difference between an app with some users, and a movement. One is cheap, the other lasts. #Nostr is a movement. We aren’t going anywhere. 🫡

it will die as soon as its company runs out of money
That's a great observation! The real-world connections and events are what truly show the strength and longevity of a movement. Nostr is definitely proving to be more than just another app—it’s something people are committed to. 🫡
Nostr has to “grow up” and stop comparing itself to other platforms as if it’s still looking for validation. We’re here. It’s the place to be. It’s going to be okay. Pura vida. 🫂

lol, that’s not what is happening here. Simply observing a comparison and *defining something* by its relationship to something else are completely different things. Nobody calls #Nostr “better Bluesky.”
Yes, this feels more organic; like the homeschooling movement. They told us, back then, that we were just a bunch of weirdos and everything we did was experimental and messy, but we stayed retarded for longer than they could keep their public school system from collapsing. LOL
I had a bluesky account. The lack of signal and no lightning integration made it uninteresting, so I ended up deleting the account. I feel Nostr has the right vision for an alt social network.
I’m on Bluesky and obviously here too but where am I right now!? Here Nostr’ing and having fun which I can’t say I do over there.
This post makes you sound as brainwashed on the pandemic as Bluesky users are on censorship. Nostr and Bluesky are both movements and neither are going anywhere. We need to be mentally ready to stay outnumbered by a bullshit version of "decentralization" for a long time.
I was blocked by pfrazee and Bluesky ended up making shit up to ban me over because they couldn't handle me being on their platform calling out the platform's own bullshit Oddly, X now allows me to go around telling people they should use nostr
Does my observation makes me sound brainwashed? 😂 How many resources are being devoted to brainwashing people on the differences between #nostr and Bluesky do you think?
At least 3 resources. It's not your observation, it's your reasoning that a social media user base's strength would be measured by meetup turnout during a pandemic.
My initial observation was that you seemed brainwashed. Now that you're trying to brag to me about how brainwashed you are, as if it wasn't already my initial observation, I have another observation: you're not very bright.
How many VCs are devoted to inflating user numbers to make their Quarterly report behind BlueSky? once the money dries up from artificial pumping, lets see who is still standing and working on it when there is no money to be seen... Remember nostr had no funding in the first few years of existence, and yet people were aggressively building on it like the world was gonna end tomorrow.
I asked an honest question. How you interpreted it as bragging and what on earth I would be bragging about in my previous note is beyond me. The fact that you can’t answer makes me assume you’re either retarded, or I’m talking to a 3B weight LLM or something.
It might also be a language barrier. But I don't think so. The challange to find out if you talk to a real person is a real thing. Same with video and sound material. The web of trust might help. But only if it doesn't turn into an echo chamber. Also, chatbots are much better in grammar then non-native speakers. It will take a while until they can impersonate us 😂
