Still waiting. At one point the requirement for a NIP for "relationship status" was making the rounds bit it didn't catch on and nobody is using #datechain.

I don't know that I have ever been on a date.
THERE'S A SIMPLE WAY FOR THEM TO VERIFY... POST PIC WITH SHOE ON HEAD
πŸ˜‚ I would create it as a bubble for itself with its own relay(s), using the protocol but not interlaced with the other stuff.
I was thinking about overtaking an old social network, talking 20+ years, a dating website for punks and rebels that hasn't changed since 2005 and has not implemented any European laws regarding data security, moderation, privacy laws, none whatsoever. The thing refuses to die and nobody is snitching, it's also very badly done and has so much potential. I see the potential and have ideas but I have no interest in implementing any of those rules either. If nobody is in charge nobody can be choked so... Put that shit off the servers and onto relays.
Okay let's approach this a different way. How could a dating app built using Nostr be a better way of connecting people than the current versions that are out there, with an honest business model that is not based on debt so as to mitigate the risk of exploitation of its users? Right now dating apps have no incentive to work. Just to keep people on them.
A see a client that simply has the optionality of disclosing your marital status which would indicate to others that you’re either available or not. Then conversation can happen organically
Current successful and mainstream dating platforms are charging high fees to keep low quality people off the platform. Dating sites are overrun by men immediately and you have to control your userbase and men-women ratio or you're dead in the water. Like a club. That's why women get to sign up for free most of the times and men have to pay. However once you charge money and manipulate and moderate what's happening, you have to have a big team of employees, with that comes all the company baggage, you're in a jurisdiction and have to abide by whatever rules they make up and so forth. With nine of that, you can implement all the settings people want and self-moderating tools that no company offers due to political correctness. I see no problem with exploitation even with the current platforms. Those are services offered by companies, take it or leave it.
You are relating two completely different things here. Grants are for dev work on the nostr ecosystem. Anyone can run a relay. On nostr, you see cool devs like jb55 offer a relay for his app Damus as well as get grants for his app. I run a spam-free public relay and offer lightning wallets for free. How bout dat?
