Even as someone who doesn't drink that often I'll take the contrarian view on that one. One must ask why some, seemingly "toxic", human habits are widespread and secular. I'd argue that even given that it is bad for you, specially not in moderation, it might be good for the survival of the species, how many babies were born thanks to the social lubricant (pun intended) effect of alcohol?

The origin of beer is quite interesting, and it served for a very simple task: preserve water drinkable.
If impairment of your inhibitions helped you overcome your irrational fears in the long run then you might have a starting point for your argument. Unfortunately the opposite happens, people get more disconnected from reality and addressing their real issues.

The shitcoin that makes me feel good. I’m ok with it.
Yup. The stoopid things I always do, cost me a lot of coin to cover my shit. Oh well, I often get saturated after 'explosive' periods. Saturday is week 3 without alcohol, but boy, that last week was funny... Pic below was consumption of 2 evenings with a select group of approx 150 people. 6 x 50 liter beer kegs, 12 cases pilsner, 5 cases of Duvel. What a week 😎 image

It’s the only shitcoin I mess with 🤷🏽‍♀️🤣
Regular drinking is. I can enjoy one drink if out for a meal and the occasional social blow out a couple of times a year. Buying alcohol with your food shop is when it's a pure shitcoin.

If the peel is "toxic" should you really consume that in any way sape or form? ( I know i'm lucky to find 🍋 and 🍊 from decent sources where I live)
Fully agree, unfortunately so few see it. My parents are constantly trying to pour me a glass of wine or sth. They just cannot comprehend that you can stop drinking for all eternity. They are good people but if good people tell you to drink then you know they are addicted.
I'd argue it's not either or, one needs not be under the influence at all times, in which case I'd agree that it would not be good, at all, the kind of disconnect that would come from it. my point is that in certain social situations, such as going to speak with someone you like but being inhibited, alcohol might facilitate a first approach, if more times than not this leads to a relationship with offspring that would not otherwise have happened, it might be net good for the continuation of the species
What would be better for the species is trying to understand out why we are increasingly more isolated and afraid of each other. I’m agreeing with you on the underlying issue, just not the solution.
Yes...but I still like it and do not over-indulge. Generally have a bourbon every night and still like a good wine or porter/stout...and even like a refreshing gin/sparkling water with LMNT electrolytes. Could I have used that money to buy more of the greatest asset on earth - yep. Could I drop a couple percentage body fat - yep. But it is worth the trade-off for me, and my wife and I love starting our day together with coffee and finishing with a drink. And that has been a part of a great recipe for marriage success for over 35 years.
Alcohol can indeed cause some people a lot of problems. I also find wine to be a very effective social hack for me, and a really great bonding tool. When used intelligently it's a value add.
not defending it's a solution for all of humanities social problems. I'm just saying that, given it's a secular human habit, it might just contribute to the proliferation of the species.
I've never really picked up drinking alcohol but I can smoke weed like crazy. Especially coming from Nevada where weed was more plentiful than water. I can tell you my decision to go completely sober before hitting the road has changed my outlook and perspectives on a lot of things on day to day life. I do like caffeine, I'm still working on my addiction to sugar, other than that, it's as if a fuzzy filter or brain fog has been shed. Plus because I am now a roaming nomad living on the road, drinking alcohol is simply not an option. Keep building, stay humble, stack sats.

i'm talking food/ medicine, things people imbibe fren
It’s not good. A drink once in a while is fine but if you’re drinking daily, even one or two it’s not good for you.
Agreed. I can't tolerate the taste of any alcoholic beverage anyway... other than vodka/screwdrivers. So I never really picked up drinking 🤷‍♂️ It's the lamest drug tbh with disproportionate downsides
