Looks like Apple’s at it again, choking the life out of Damus’ zaps with their iron grip on in-app purchases! Guideline 3.1.1 strikes like a petty tyrant—time to break free from the fruit cartel and let the tips flow, you control freaks! View quoted note →
These are OUR ‘in-app’ purchases—OUR tips for the content WE choose to value…and you’re bulldozing our rights like some fruit-flavored fascist! Rip off that chokehold and let us tip like kings, you profit-obsessed overlords!

sad but it was too good to be true to begin with. Apple gonna Apple.
apple gimps them, can't even use safari plugins so you are forced to insert an nsec into your browser. plus performance is terrible. PWAs have failed. noone even uses them.
Why is it that other Nostr apps are getting away with it and Damus is being singled out?

This is why I try to minimize my Apple. Thought you were working more on Android these days?

They are not bulldozing anything. It might be our in-app and your tips, but its just not your os, so, if not in line with your values... Don't feed the fascists machine, buy and use other hardware and os Graphene is amazing 🙌.
that just allowed us to link to external payment methods in app, not necessarily add the zap button back. we tried just to see what would happen
I take your point with the nsec… it’s local cache sure, but you’re still sticking it into the browser I use PWA’s for a few apps mainly wallets… works great But perhaps these are far simpler apps than something more comprehensive like Damus Appreciate all your hard work mate… thank you for your time 🙏

Apple needs to chill. Jobs would've loved zaps
Add a pop up notification to the app letting people know that the appstore version of it is restricted and a link to normal version of the app.
No idea about apple but on Android when I top up my sats on primal it's an in app purchase, through my google account.
@npub10r8xl2njyepcw2zwv3a6dyufj4e4ajx86hz6v4ehu4gnpupxxp7stjt2p8 I'm not personally an apple user, but please release zapstore for ios too, it's clear that apple doesn't give a shit about freedom
I hate google as much as the next guy, but that's just not true of android. If you run @GrapheneOS or murena any other degoogled android rom, there's nothing that could ever stop you running nostr apps on your phone. But primarily, most importantly, I think that linux needs to make a come back on mobile devices, there have been attempts but none of them went as widespread as they should have imo
how about cashu? you let the user store sats in any mint they choose, you allow them to make an in-app purchase to buy x sats which then are minted on the user's mint when you receive the payment from apple, and you store the proofs on the app
That didn’t work for me. They denied me 3 times likely because I used a proton email. Never approved. Their support wasn’t helpful either.

When they do stuff like this, it means you are hitting them where it hurts. Keep up the good work and expose their monopolistic actions.
That's what Apple wants. Then they get their 30% "share" and you pay the extra apple-prenium for your sats.
I was running linux on my pinephone for awhile. Absolutely trash experience but tons of fun
cashu could make sense for the ingame currency, but i could also just use tigerbeetle and anonymous identifiers which would be more reliable
Isn’t there any way you can by pass the apple app store. Just like android where you have option to directly install the apk without using the play store. Apple just want their cut in the zaps ⚡️

Apple is evil. Stop giving money to evil people
