criticism is good, but keep in mind many nostr devs are working on this in the spare time, or are taking lower pay so that they can work on this because they believe in it. nostr is an experient, a protocol. It's not polished. There are bugs. It's not a VC venture with hundreds of millions of funding, designers, and large teams of people building polished products. It's an R&D lab. adjust your expectations accordingly. Sure you can say we suck and aren't working hard enough, but is that really productive? We're trying our best folks. These apps are non-trivial to build! Especially if you want to make them fast 🏎 GN 😴

It takes a while to even appreciate what this means. Keep going man, it’s pretty special.
I heard that some of the nostr devs are being paid very well.. Since you mentioned the money speech I would say that if you see $ in building something then close source and sell your start up! I will just make an example of Satoshi who saw the problem and fixed it without any expectations to being paid!
one thing I see a lot that is surprising is when someone criticizes prioritization of issues. Our entire project management process is open source. all of our sprints, milestones, dev calls, etc, are open. Our prioritization and work allocation is based on what everyone has agreed upon in our open dev and project planning/sprint calls. Usually people who just want to make the project better and aren’t even being paid to be there. Then we get people who have never submitted an issue or looked at our milestones, sprints, or ever joined a dev call saying that all of these people working for free in their spare time is doing shit work and are not fixing things fast enough or fixing the right things. I just find it bizarre.

GN! rooting 4 the Devs!
Seems like you don’t get it! Anyone can switch to other clients! There are just people who jumped on nostr when Will was shipping new features and fixing the bugs with enthusiasm that is faded out.. Vanessa, also asked the question I wanted to ignore but let it be! I have been contributing my free time to helping with Chicago BitDevs for years for free and not expecting anything in return and asking for any cent to be paid ! This is just simply what I love to do when I have free time ! Also, I’m not even talking about the pictures and all of the stuff I have contributed and doing it for fun just because I can!
It’s not even about this! My point was if money is what is your interest in then don’t need to complain that “we are working for free” don’t do it! There will be others who will gonna build !

I really appreciate your work. Thank‘s!!!!
Anyone who says nostr devs are not working fast enough doesn't know what they're talking about, plain and simple. Not to be cliche but don't worry about the haters. What we, the nostr devs are doing will at some point be in the history books.
With all due respect you're wrong on many levels. First of all no, nostr devs aren't paid as much as you think and yes a lot of us are working for free with am expectation of making money later. Second, "build something close source and sell your startup" is a horrible mindset. There is almost never a reason to build something closed source. Closed source code is a temporary pandemic we're in the midsts of dealing with. And finally Satoshi didn't work for free. Satoshi has (rightfully) earned several BTC by mining Bitcoin at the start
Read again my message! Will is one of them who gets the most and complaining every time about money! This shit needs to stop! Ok, ok ! If we started taking about open source ! How about changing Damus license ? image
Yeah man it was a lighthearted joke more than anything. But that’s also the point we can be as annoying as we want to be here. To be honest I don’t have time to contribute with anything myself. I just zap and enjoy the ride. 🤷🏻

Respect Willy. Nostr is massive contribution. Much thanks to all who are putting in the work!
I assume everyone working on nostr is broke except Jack.🤷🏽‍♂️ My expectation is nostr will be buggy and a passion project for along time 🤙🏽😆
I love Nostr, excellent work you do and every chance I get I keep uploading photos to update my profile. This place is growing and all the work is appreciated, because Bitcoin education is difficult, especially to the masses. Great job I love Nostr
This is why I can’t stand when people with large followings on Xitter gripe about Nostr and you know they’ve either never used it before or have hardly tried it. A lot of people claim to be into bitcoin for the freedom, meanwhile they ignore Nostr because it takes too much effort for them to understand it.
A good reminder and wise words.

Believing in something always has a cost. I'm not a dev but I can appreciate the effort it takes to invest time/talent into something like nostr. I'm thankful that devs are passionate enough to offer their efforts.
Anyone can sue anyone for anything, but that doesn't mean they'd have a case. Damus, like many projects, is open source, and allows for use commercially and sale. If you want to fork it, and call it Petrov's Playground, you could do so.
Most people aren't ready for nostr yet. Same as they weren't ready for Bitcoin in the early days. Ignore them and do your thang man! People can always go back to their Facebook if they don't think nostr is for them. Eventually they'll come back one day. It's invevitable.

Ignore the haters/losers who only complain without asking how they can help or offering to contribute… I appreciate you and your team WE appreciate you and your team ✊🏼
My impulse to type "the fact that you all use JavaScript is proof you all suck" is invalidated by the fact that I recently saw a post from you about a whole nostr project where you avoided using JavaScript
As someone who can't read code can't write code, and gets a headache everytime he looks at code. I very much appreciate the devs who are building our digital universe. God bless the devs!
Typed this in a way that might confuse some readers - correction: project I saw mentioned using stuff other than JavaScript in important ways but still has JavaScript involved because nostr requires it

Your work is incredible, I do realize Nostr is a WIP, and what a beautiful one it is. I’m using it more and more daily. IG still has my main network with all the normies. But Nostr feels pure, no ads, dirty algorithms, and mfing ZAPS! Keep it up.
I know it’s pointless to say it, but I will voice my opinion on that- Ignore the gripers that aren’t constructive. You are exactly right; they want a perfect something for nothing on their part and will never be happy. They aren’t happy with their own life and take it out on others. Trolls, if you will. I don’t code, so this is all magic to me and I appreciate work done, even more so since it costs me nothing and I get to enjoy the results. Well done, frens.
I personally admire the scrapyness of Nostr devs. They're literally pushing against the goliath that is the current Internet/Social media cancer.
If it makes you feel better I am underpaid and undervalued in my actual job and we ship buggy software every day there too.
yeah, the negative bullshit always finds a way to float to the top, ignore it the best you can. Plug away wonderful devs, you are creating the pieces and parts of the free world we need to move toward. Much love and carry on!
Thank you #nostr devs for your hard work. Censorship-resistant, neutral communications are much needed for the advancement of society
"I See you" ! All of you ! It's beautiful to see what is being birthed here, and the steps donne for growth and improvement ! I am grateful for your work and appreciate your efforts 🔥✨🫂 Also, I feel preveliged to be part of Nostr and being able to "watch and observe" the process. When I say "your" I am referring to all Devs. Good Night and thank you! 🪷 #Gratefulchain
I've run into this type of thing in some of my other projects and I noticed (at least) two categories of people who do this, one is the "random person having a bad day" catagory, and the other category are people who are jealous of what you've achieved
