I’m on MacOS. Have been wanting to make the leap to Linux, but as a non-technical user I have my reservations. What would your recommendation be?
Slackware 15.0. Got a Debian chroot and an Ubuntu chroot on there I installed for some reason, but they're usually not running. To say nothing of docker images.

On Sega Dreamcast controller memory card? Nice. Pro tip: Make sure to also run VM's in containers on your Sega Dreamcast controller memory card for security.

Debian duh
Me too, but I will ditch Ubuntu regardless of whether they implement it. The fact that they are considering it is reason enough.
Anything with gnome. For example Fedora workstation - that thing is reliable. Gnome desktop environment should be closest to what you are used to. Or Linux Mint is quite noob friendly. Look it up. You can just try to run it from usb flash drive first, to see how you like it. You can try all of them that way, before you choose to install anything.
