Elon buying Twitter
Twitter more than two years ago. Imho people (not business or journalist accounts) who stayed there are nothing but junkies.

You and Mathew Kratter 🙏🏼
The instability of the rulea/TOS & truly toxic culture of Twitter, and the same at Madtodon, since the bad people from Twitter effectively took over Mastodon.

@The Flirting With Bitcoin Podcast did. One of the best podcast on the market today. 😉

I think because I heard it was non-toxic, especially compared to Twitter/X.
I can't even remember now. Someone's podcast I'm sure
I was curious.
I had never heard of it prior to April this year. Gave it a try and loved it!
Been exploring alternative social media.
Aaron Swartz

They're adorable, right?
Hearing @michael saylor say on a podcast "@jack Dorsey is a great philanthropist". I thought, "Really? Let me check out what this Jack guy supports..." he had a primal link on his Twitter bio and I fell hard and deep in the rabbit hole. Turned out super aligned with the mysterious quest I've been on.
Sovereignty
Privacy and learning
Combination of @Jack Spirko recommendation and a deep seated hatred for all things government control and censorship.

Bitcoin and a decentralized lifestyle.
Something a fed would ask
Xitter was nothing but bots and toxicity.
X was triggering me after all the election stuff started gearing up. Nostr is peaceful and I get the same Bitcoin news I care about without the political yuck.
Jack is a good dude.
A frustration with the manipulation and addictive qualities of legacy social media, new models where my content is valued and that value doesn’t accrue to Facebook, a like minded community and interesting tech with so much potential
ODELL
or am I supposed to sau @ODELL

Twitter files.
@Adam Back talked about it. But he left #Nostr for #X. Tbh I still read both.

Evolution
Open platform. I still use X because there is not much Finnish politics and economics here. I confess, I should get rid of my FIAT addictions.
Actually the idea of making some extra sats and seeing people that deeply care about their content 🧡💜🧡
Trying to avoid censored platforms and scary algorithms. And privacy.
Twitter became pay to play and an American politics shitfest
Privacy

Censored platforms, algorithms etc...

Martti Malmi and Iris. I was a user there back when Martti was working on his own decentralized protocol. Then Nostr came around.
CENSORSHIP, MANIPULATION & ADS
To be honest, @ODELL and @RABBIT HOLE RECAP led me to nostr in Q1 2023
Local #bitcoin meetup!
Interest in technology. I saw @jack involved and some big names creating accounts on it. In general, the technology and its potential.
The predatory practices of the evil corps in the social media landscape
kept getting shadow banned on instagram, youtube and twitter. I found mastodon and realized it was shit after reading a post from someone on there about nostr and giving it a try.
We were drawn to Nostr by its decentralized nature and focus on privacy and freedom of speech—just like how JoyID offers full control of our digital assets without the need for custodians. We're excited to be part of this community!
And you’ve been busy!! 😅

@tigs sorted me out 🙌
I was reminded of 'why nostr' just last week when the contractor whose number I saved to my contacts a few years ago suddenly created a Telegram account and the app took the creepy liberty of tipping me off.

Jack's call to arms when Elon bought Twitter.
Paywalls on all media organization websites.
The fact that Facebook's algorithm has gone rogue and is just deleting any comment and post at random.
Memories of UseNet and wishing to go back to the good days.
A realization of just how much I HATE the advertising model that is dragging our entire global culture into the abyss.
The fact that Nostr is a global flat playing field where nobody stands above anyone else.
The ability to show appreciation and respect through more than just likes.
The integration with Bitcoin down to the smallest unit.
The reality that only I should be able to control what I see, who I interact with and what I decide to post.
The accountability, where any and all posts must be deeply considered before posting because there is no reversal.
