🚨LEAKED: LUKE DASHJR PLANS HARDFORK TO "SAVE BITCOIN" Text messages show the Knots maintainer is considering a hardfork to implement a trusted multisig committee that can retrospectively alter the blockchain to remove illicit content. We included screenshots of all relevant messages we received for you to verify what Luke proposes for yourself. Full storyπŸ‘‡

Cool. πŸ˜‚ So anyway, I think the Lola screenshot is a different person than the other two screenshots. I think she got the top two and then reached out, which is the bottom screenshot. Hers isn't verified. The other two are verified.
Look at the messages again. Most are not with Lola, but screenshots from her source, who is verified. Lola's message is at the bottom and is not verified.

I understand, what I am saying is I can just "Verify" any safety number with the name "Luke Dashjr" but that verification doesn't mean anything unless they have their safety number correct as well. This is a hash that is not spoofable.

Verified doesn't mean what you think it means on signal. I can "verify" a safety number from a contact with that name without actually verifying it is them.
Yes I understand that. I was pointing out that Lola's direct message to Luke was not verified, which contradicts your initial statement.

Oh I see, yes I worded that poorly. I mean to say: the leaker, the signal contact, and Luke Dashjr would have had to verify that the signal profile is genuine in person. Otherwise "verified" means nothing.
I want to assume it's some kind of play against Luke. Because otherwise it would be short against Lukecoin πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Look at his profile. It’s fake news and a psyop The purpose of β€œrunning knots” is to signal disapproval of the upcoming mempool default policy change. It’s also the biggest client flagging event since UASF during the block size war. It’s not about supporting or condoning Luke Dashjr. This is the core side showing desperation imo.
So like what happened with bitcoin cash, core is forking a shitcoin and knots are just staying true to Bitcoin n
Its strange how people trying to kill Bitcoin are complaining about this and trying to blame those who aren't actively trying to shut down the network.
I appreciate the professional work being done by npub12apcw0ak27qxdnc3gz5ax83k3766hp9l326fqle055xsat24clqqcgn3wz & npub1mznweuxrjm423au6gjtlaxmhmjthvv69ru72t335ugyxtygkv3as8q6mak immensely But this isn't their best effort imho Specificity the gotcha-journalism style interaction with npub1lh273a4wpkup00stw8dzqjvvrqrfdrv2v3v4t8pynuezlfe5vjnsnaa9nk at the end of the piece devalues it's credibility It's all a bit legacy/fiat media cringe, really Love your work npub1lh273a4wpkup00stw8dzqjvvrqrfdrv2v3v4t8pynuezlfe5vjnsnaa9nk but this is an important topic & deserved better Your work is valued & important ... keep going ... but just saying

Can you prove the claims about this being "fake news" without saying just trust me bro? Also its being made to look worse than it is. We have bigger fish to fry, (Centralization of mining, Bitcoin adoption, node expansion, etc) Luke and co are trying so hard to spin this like if it has as much relevance to the block size war. Its just something to make their mining pool and themselves get some PR points to basically enrich themselves since they mine towards their own pool. Also Datum isn't that different from Stratum V2, except the fact that Oceans backend is closed source. Which is completely against what they claim to be for. Its just food for thought. Also show me where this is Bitcoin core being desperate. This is just journalism and someone writing an article that needs people to critically think and investigate before accepting it as truth. Which is why I tagged Luke, which I doubt he would reply to me since I'm a small fry on nostr.
Luke already replied to this story. Do you bother checking peoples profiles or do you sit there and wait for them to reply to your message? And REGARDLESS of Luke, the current flagging protest for knots is not about Luke. It’s about users rejecting Core v30 update to mempool policy. How does your brain work that you think this means knots users will start supporting a hard fork altcoin?
So currently Luke hasn't posted or replied to any of this on nostr. Which is currently the only platform is use, if he has posted a comment about this article on X. Can you share it to me please to make sure I can get all the facts. Also I don't wait I do tag them to see their input on things, get it straight from them. Also a lot of people will follow blindly to someone as vocal as Luke and Mechanic. Theyve made this sound like its the end times for Bitcoin and only by running their Fork of Bitcoin core. (The node software not the actual chain) then it will be saved. If they don't get their way they might try to work towards a fork to the chain. Also its really easy to game the number of nodes out there. You just need a VPS, some credit and you can pop in an extra 5% more Knots users. Me personally I don't like the way core is managing the implementation since I'm a heavy power user that has a mining farm going and it actively removes certain things I need. But that doesn't mean I'll move to Knots which is only maintained by Luke and two other folks. With his history of bad OPSEC I say running a older version of core is safer than knots.
It is journalism regardless of whether you suck on Luke's tip or not. If it ends up being wrong then its bad journalism, but if it stays unrefuted and then its good journalism. Stop worshipping Luke and Knots and use critical thinking and have a thought of your own. Acting childish makes you and others who support knots look like retards. Otherwise you guys look more retarded than Shinobi trying to glaze core.
Ok man, listen- you aren’t stupid enough to update to software that hard forks Bitcoin right? Neither am I, let’s not assume the intelligence of others or β€œthe masses” PS. Those people don’t run nodes
That's why you educate others on how to run their own nodes and teach them the deep mechanics of them. If we treat people like their stupid then they'll believe they can't do it. You gotta give people the tools for them to learn and to get self efficacy and confidence that they can run things without some dude claiming only techno wizards can run nodes. I appreciate your respectful reply. Here's some sats for it. ⚑
Indeed. The messages might turn out to be real & verified, but that is not the point, my comment still stands ...

My god it’s full of retard
So...according to comments, this article is useless because: - it's AI content generated - Rage takes shitcoins - It's ok because Luke wants to save bitcoin from Coreℒ️ Man, knots fans are taking mental gymnastics up to an olimpic skill View quoted note β†’
None of this would ever work. The market doesn't want this. Bitcoin doesn't need this, and this is just the Bitcoin's version of fake culture/political wars from real life (left vs right), that all they do is distract from the things that really matter. And what matters to you is going to be different than matters to another person, etc. But there's certainly things that matter more or less...

Tell me how to trace the digital footprint of a spoofed verification, a Tor-routed signal chat, and E2EE connection.
You probably shouldn’t write stories about shit you don’t even understand. Especially if you do t know enough about said topic to even ask intelligent questions
This sort of horseshit is what happens when someone with an agenda but without the requisite background knowledge writes about technical topics. It happened constantly during Covid. The Rage is trash and you should save your brain from rotting and not support them View quoted note β†’
The fact that you use the word "noderunners" shows how much of an idiotic retard you are. You do realize running a node does literally nothing? being a noderunner does fuck all for the network. Nodes that do not mine and produce blocks for the blockchain are entirely useless to the network, their only use is for you as bitcoin user to verify your transactions for yourself, and to do so without requesting blocks with your transactions from someone else's node, letting them know which addresses are yours which is a privacy concern. That's it. There is zero benefit for bitcoin if you are core "noderunner" or knots "noderunner". neither one benefits bitcoin's security or the confirmation of new transactions. The only reason to do run a non-mining node is to verify your own transactions in the blockchain without having to rely on someone else. The only additional benefit, is you're doing so more privately by querying your own node instead of chainalysis' node. You can directly infer how stupid someone is by if they use the noderunner, and they are even more stupid if they think they are somehow "protecting" or "saving" bitcoin by being one.
You should understand that while you may not be relaying these transactions, running Knots does litterally nothing to stop them from being mined and they will ultimatly end up on your node anyway: https://njump.me/nevent1qqsghnx4jk3vmpfsaw4xxhk9fxmcnh33nqqq04ty4c2wk6uw4sg52ecpzfmhxue69uhkummnw3eryvfwvdhk6tczyzmf9l8rhwnmml5sl0vl5f9jz8j5ena2yqagg8zxa088t4wau4pp7qcyqqqqqqgmed9ey

This 2679 byte op_return containing a png file was confirmed on chain. I broadcast it using Core version 29.1 to the regular Bitcoin relay network (no out of band service needed). Core 30 makes no difference in the ability of a "spammer" to confirm transactions with large op_returns. image Here is the TXID: 0d5f273d09c1a4665634fd25d5a17b879d8843de5edc40b8b7d8671500dd16b6 It took a little while to be mined, I must have gained a new peer that would relay it to a miner. I broadcast it block height 916259 and it was confirmed at 619343. I paid less than 1 Sat/vB. Knots users didn't have this transaction in their mempool but now they store it on their node. Filters won't keep these transactions off your node. Filters do not work. You can view it for yourself with this command (Thank you @npub1mxrs...0htc): bitcoin-cli getrawtransaction 0d5f273d09c1a4665634fd25d5a17b879d8843de5edc40b8b7d8671500dd16b6 true | jq -r '.vout[0].scriptPubKey.asm' | cut -d ' ' -f2 | xxd -r -ps | base64 -d > filters.png Here are my node settings that allowed me to send this transaction and get it relayed (and mined): minrelaytxfee=0.00000100 mempoolminfee=0.00000100 incrementalrelayfee=0.00000100 datacarriersize=100000 If you are running Knots because you believe it will prevent "spam", you are being fooled by Mechanic. The only way to keep this type of transaction off your node it to fork #Bitcoin consensus rules.

The #Deciders are at it againβ€” Again… CuΓ¬ Bono <β€”
no, they don't stupid. The undesirable transactions filtered by knots "noderunner" retards just show up in other non-knots nodes' mempools and get mined by non-ocean miners, or directly by miners via out of band channels making you all retarded morons that accomplish exactly nothing.
